This limited edition 2008 Shelby GT-C/SC in Grabber Orange was initially produced for the Southern California Dealers group to be sold exclusively among these dealers. The original owner bought this car from Vista Ford in Woodland Hills, Orange County, California. The Orange County, California dealers that ordered these may be the reason for the color. The limited-edition Ford 2008 Shelby GT-C was produced by Shelby American in Las Vegas and shipped to Southern California dealerships. The first owner took the vehicle to Tasca Ford in Rhode Island, a Shelby American factory in 2008, and the famous TASCA Mod Shop to complete the transition to a supercharged Shelby. Bob Tasca's Shelby American factory (also know as the Tasca Mod Shop), lowered the engine, installed a Ford Racing Whipple supercharger, Brembo brakes, and other final other final upgrades (see the specifications link). These modifications brought the 4.6-liter machine up to 540 rear wheel horsepower. The final product is a Shelby GT-C/SC that requires a elite driver at wide open throttle!
What makes this car is desirable to a collector is it's uniqueness. This car was upgraded by shops owned by Carroll Shelby and Bob Tasca, two Ford racing legends, and it is a limited edition Shelby. Carroll Shelby is famous for taking stock Ford Mustangs and creating performance Shelby Mustangs and founding Shelby American Incoporated. Shelby American Incorporated built the famous Shelby 427 Cobra. SAI and Ford built race cars that won LeMans. Bob Tasca is renowned for the 428 Cobra jet engine, the Tasca Ford 427 Thunderbolt, the Tasca Street Boss, and the mystery race cars. Bob Tasca introduced Carrol Shelby to Henry Ford II. Bob Tasca's grandson Bob Tasca III is a legendary NHRA funny car driver. All in all, this car was produced by factories with an elite racing pedigree.
SAI painted the Shelby GT-C ('C' for California) models in grabber orange with silver lemans racing stripes, rear brake ducts, a hood scoop, and customized door sills. Ford initially assembled these cars in the USA at Ford's Flat Rock, Michigan plant. This car was #422 off the Ford factory floor, another collectible feature. All 215 Shelby GT-Cs were signed by the late and great Caroll Shelby on the inside of the passenger sun visors using a silver Sharpie. The SAI registration number for this car is 08SGT0015.
